Libraries then and now....

As a student of librarianship more years ago than I would like to admit, the big topics of discussion were "Did computers spell the demise of books?" "would we be scrolling through the chapters of the latest novel on computer screen, rather than curling up on our favourite couch turning the pages of our latest read?"
My computer studies consisted of learning about the magic digits 1010 and punching those binary combinations into manilla coloured computer cards that went whirling through a computer big enough to fill the top floor of the library building.
That was then... now there are so many more questions , so many more possibilities as to how we create ,use and organise information.... blogs, podcasts, del.ici.ous, rss etc etc
It's is such an exciting time in libraries and Learning 2.0 is such a great opportunity to play and learn and be part of this brave new 2.0 world!!!
